Live at the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society" captures Phil Coyne and The Wayward Aces’ intensity with fabulous fidelity. Showcasing their powerful dynamic range; the swing and drive of Will’s drums, in collusion with Oscar’s compelling and commanding guitar, aided and abetted by Phil’s brassy harp and raucous vocals - the album faithfully reproduces the live band experience - an unexpectedly full sound that belies their three-piece setup.

Phil Coyne and The Wayward Aces' follow up release to "Sound and Fury" rockets along like a hi octane blues fueled jet fighter.
While Sound and Fury was fully immersed in Blues, the new release "Phil Coyne and The Wayward Aces" goes adventuring into new territory - from Chicago blues to early 60's rock and roll, garage surf and rockabilly.
Recorded on one track tape quarter inch tape at Quasar Studio over two dates in 2023, the album was recorded in one room a la “Sound and Fury”. Maestro Sam Valentino recorded, mixed and mastered the album.
Originals were penned by Phil Coyne with Oscar LaDell and Will Harris’ contributing to feel, melody, drive and vibe.

Blues lovers strap yourself in for some of the tone and fury of mid 50’s Chicago blues with Phil Coyne and The Wayward Aces debut EP "Sound and Fury".
Recorded on one track tape at Quasar studios in the heart of Melbourne "Sound and Fury" is a tribute to the energy and vitality of the early 50’s Chicago with its raw sounds bursting out of the instruments and sending VU meters into a frenzy.
Romping through six tracks, including four originals, the band is captured channeling the timing, tone and feel of some of Chicago's greats. Influences you'll hear include Little Walter, Howling Wolf, Otis Rush, Billy Boy Arnold and Muddy Waters.
All the originals were penned by Phil Coyne the blues harp blaster, singer and songwriter at the front and centre.
Recorded in glorious mono - most tracks are a single take, no overdubs, no corrections - high stakes with all foibles and fancies baked in.
It’s electric Chicago blues at its stripped back best as the three piece concentrate on tone, timing, passion and potency. Not suitable for polite society, this is loud, brash Juke joint dancing blues. Turn it up - we dare you not to tap your foot, snap your fingers and dig!
